Appliance Removal in Chamblee, GA
We carry old refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers and water heaters out of your home and send them to recycling. You get a clear price before we lift anything, protected floors on the way out, and an empty spot ready for the new unit.

Why an old appliance needs a crew
A dead appliance is rarely just bulky trash. A side-by-side refrigerator weighs close to 300 pounds and holds refrigerant inside its sealed system. Many top-load washers carry a concrete counterweight bolted to the tub. Even a drained 50-gallon water heater can still hold inches of mineral sediment. Curbside pickup won't take most of these, which is why they end up sitting in garages for months.
We handle the hard parts: the disconnect where it's safe for us to do it, the carry through doorways and down stairs, and the drop-off at a scrap or recycling yard that recovers refrigerant and metal. If you're replacing several pieces at once, or the appliance is part of a bigger pile, our junk removal and garage cleanouts crews can take the rest on the same trip.
What we do on an appliance pickup
- Water and drain disconnects
- We shut the supply valves behind a washer or under a dishwasher, unhook the hoses and drain what's left so it doesn't spill across your floor. If a valve is seized or leaking, we'll tell you before touching it.
- Gas appliances, handled honestly
- We don't do gas work. If a gas range or dryer is still connected, have the line shut off and capped by a plumber or your gas provider first, and we'll take it from there.
- Refrigerators and freezers
- Units with a sealed refrigerant system go to recyclers who recover the refrigerant before the cabinet is crushed. Empty the food ahead of time and leave the doors closed so the shelves stay put during the carry.
- Floor and doorway protection
- We use appliance dollies with straps, pad door frames and lay runners on hardwood or tile. Removing a fridge door or two to clear a tight opening is part of the job.
- Water heaters
- Tank units get drained at the valve before we move them, which drops the weight considerably. Sediment-packed tanks drain slowly, so we plan time for it.
- Recycling or donation
- If a unit still runs and looks presentable, we offer it to a charity first, as long as they'll take it. The rest is separated so the steel, copper and refrigerant can be recovered.
Signs it's time to get rid of the old one
The new one is already ordered
Many delivery crews charge extra or skip the haul-away. Clearing the old unit beforehand gives installers an open space and a clean hookup.
The compressor runs nonstop
A refrigerator that clicks, hums without ever cycling off and still can't hold temperature is usually losing its compressor or leaking refrigerant. Once a unit has some age on it, fixing either problem tends to cost more than the fridge is worth.
Water on the laundry room floor
A cracked tub, worn pump seal or split hose on a washer can soak subfloor quickly. Once the drum bearing is also loud, replacement usually makes more sense.
A dead appliance is parked in the garage
That second fridge that stopped cooling two summers ago is taking up a parking spot and can trap odor and moisture. It's a single, quick pickup.
Rust at the base of the water heater
Rust streaks or seepage at the bottom of the tank mean the lining has failed. That tank needs replacing, and the old one needs to go.
How the pickup works
- 1
Phone call and quote
Tell us what the appliances are, where they sit and whether anything is still hooked up. We give you a clear price on the call, or set up a free on-site estimate if the access is tricky.
- 2
Prep on your end
Empty the fridge, run the washer's drain cycle if it still works, and have any gas line capped. Clear a path from the appliance to the door.
- 3
Disconnect and carry
We confirm the price before lifting, shut and unhook water lines, strap the unit to a dolly and walk it out with padding on the frames. Stairs get two people and a controlled step-by-step carry, never a slide.
- 4
Sweep and haul
We sweep the dust and lint that collects behind every appliance, check the valves for drips and load the truck. Then it goes to recycling or donation.

What moves the price
Appliance pricing comes down to how many pieces, how heavy they are and how hard they are to reach. You hear the price before work starts, and our pricing is upfront with no hidden fees. Nothing gets added at the truck.
- Number and type of units
- One dishwasher is a lighter job than a refrigerator, a chest freezer and a washer-dryer pair. Several pieces on one trip usually cost less per item than separate visits.
- Weight and size
- French-door refrigerators, front-load washers and full water heaters are heavy. More weight can mean a second crew member and more time.
- Access
- A garage pickup is simple. A basement freezer up a narrow staircase or a unit that needs doors removed takes more labor.
- Disconnect work
- Disconnected and ready to roll is fastest. Shutting valves, draining a tank or pulling a built-in dishwasher from under a counter adds time.
- Refrigerant units
- Refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and window AC units go to recyclers who recover refrigerant, which can affect disposal cost.
Appliance removal questions
Something not covered here? (404) 383-9607
Do I have to disconnect the appliance before you arrive?
Not for water. We can shut valves and unhook washer, dishwasher and fridge ice-maker lines. Gas is different: have a plumber or your gas provider shut off and cap the line before we come, because we don't do gas work.
What happens to the refrigerant in my old fridge?
We take refrigerators and freezers to recyclers who recover the refrigerant before the unit is scrapped. Venting it is illegal, and it's harmful. Leave the sealed system alone and we'll handle the rest.
Can you get a freezer out of my basement?
Yes. We use strapped dollies and two people on stairs, and we pad the walls and handrails. If the stairway is very tight, we'll check it on a free on-site estimate first so the quote is accurate.
My washer still works. Will you donate it?
If it runs and is in good shape, we try donation first. Charities set their own rules on age and condition, so we can't promise a specific unit will be accepted, but anything they turn down still gets recycled.
Could the old fridge be gone today?
Often, yes. Pickups can be booked for the day you call or the day after, depending on where our trucks are already scheduled. Our crews cover Chamblee plus Doraville, Brookhaven, Dunwoody and other towns close by.
